The Cone Health Apprenticeship Program is already proving to be a powerful, hands-on learning experience for local students—and the momentum is only building.

This week, Cone Health officially welcomed students into an immersive schedule designed to introduce them to the real-world dynamics of healthcare careers. From the moment the program began, it was clear this wouldn’t be a passive experience. Students were engaged, exposed to a wide range of career pathways, and consistently asked thoughtful, insightful questions that reflected both curiosity and ambition.

The day kicked off with a warm welcome and introductions inside the Moses Cone Executive Board Room, setting the tone for a professional and interactive environment. From there, students moved into one of the most impactful parts of the experience—student shadowing. This hands-on opportunity allowed participants to step directly into clinical and operational settings, observing professionals across departments such as Endoscopy, Nursing, Acute Rehab, Lab/Phlebotomy, and Respiratory care.

By connecting at-risk youth with meaningful healthcare experiences, hands-on learning, and professional mentorship, this partnership embodies our mission: surrounding students with a community that empowers them to stay in school, aim higher, and achieve lifelong success.
