About the Program

The Drop Out Prevention Services program was designed to provide comprehensive support to students facing barriers to academic success. Through a combination of tutoring, mentoring, case management, enrichment activities, college scholarships, and school-to-career transition services, we help students stay in school and achieve their full potential.

Services are delivered through our dedicated Student Success Coordinators, using a comprehensive case management model with a focused approach on Attendance, Behavior, Coursework, College & Career, and Parent Engagement.

Our Approach

CISGG Student Success Coordinators are full-time, trained professionals who work inside schools every day—building relationships with students, school staff, volunteers, and community partners; and connecting students to resources and relationships designed to help them succeed. Our coordinators are trained in critical areas including Parent Engagement, Developmental Relationships, Social Capital Exchange, Trauma-Informed Care, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access, and Social-Emotional Learning.

Who Can Participate?

Drop Out Prevention Services are available to students facing barriers to academic success across all grade levels. Our services are delivered in partner schools throughout Guilford County, with a focus on students who would benefit from additional support to stay in school and graduate.

Program criteria includes:

  • Students in grades K-12 at participating CISGG schools
  • Students facing academic, social, or economic barriers to success
  • Students at risk of dropping out or falling behind academically
  • Students who would benefit from mentoring, tutoring, or case management support
  • Parental consent and willingness to engage with CISGG services

Making an Impact

Many children face challenges both inside and outside the classroom. Through a school-based site coordinator, Communities In Schools strategically aligns and delivers needed resources so that students can focus on learning. By providing the right support at the right time, we help students overcome barriers and achieve their dreams of graduation and beyond.
