About the Program

The 21st Century Scholars program is a college promise program that provides students the opportunity to earn a tuition scholarship to attend college. Students who enroll and fulfill program requirements can receive up to four years of tuition at any participating college or university.

The Scholar Pledge

Students who enroll in the 21st Century Scholars program make a pledge to:

• Graduate from high school

• Achieve at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA

• Apply to college and complete the FAFSA

CISGG Support Services for Scholars

📚 Academic Support

Tutoring, study skills development, and course selection guidance to ensure scholars meet GPA requirements

🎯 College Preparation

SAT/ACT prep, college visits, application assistance, and FAFSA completion support

👥 Mentoring

Caring adult relationships providing guidance, encouragement, and accountability throughout high school

💼 Career Exploration

Job shadowing, internship connections, and exposure to diverse career pathways

✅ Pledge Monitoring

Regular check-ins to ensure scholars stay on track with program requirements and commitments

👨‍👩‍👧 Family Engagement

Parent workshops, family communication, and resources to support scholars at home

Eligibility Requirements

To enroll in the 21st Century Scholars program, students must:

  • Be a Guilford County Student
  • Participating in CISGG program
  • Need academic support
  • About to graduate

Scholar Requirements (Grades 9-12)

To Maintain Scholar Status & Earn the Scholarship:
  • Graduate with a diploma
  • Apply to college and be admitted
  • Complete the FAFSA on time

Scholarship Benefits

Qualifying 21st Century Scholars receive:

  • Full tuition coverage at participating colleges and universities
  • Up to four years of undergraduate education (eight semesters for full-time students)
  • Additional support services at many participating institutions specifically for Scholars
  • Access to summer bridge programs and early college transition support
  • Eligibility for additional state grants and institutional scholarships

Our Impact

21st Century Scholars shows higher rates of high school graduation, college enrollment, and scholarship award completion compared to scholars without comprehensive support services. Our holistic approach ensures students have both the academic preparation and personal support needed to fulfill their college dreams.
